Uric Acid Mystery

1 of my students asked, "I'm not a heavy eater of anything, in fact, I eat little amount of things, why do I have high uric acid level?"

In TCM, a person's poor health can be of many factors. Without making this article too long, I'll focus on this situation today.

There're mainly 2 situations where one's health is poor = in-born (genes or poor pregnancy nutrition etc) or bad habits picked up in growing years.

It can be, but not exhaustive:

Wrong eating habits, rest habits, working habits, fluid drinking habits, emotional handling (stress) habits.

When a person's nutrition intake is impeded by many factors --> blood + Qi health will be weak --> organs can't be healthy --> cycle continues --> health spiral down thru the years.

Why would I have high uric acid markers when I don't eat a lot of things + I actually eat little?

"When cells die and get recycled, the purines in their genetic material also get broken down. Uric acid is the chemical formed when purines have been broken down completely. It's normal and healthy for uric acid to be formed in the body from breakdown of purines. In our blood, for example, uric acid serves as an antioxidant and helps prevent damage to our blood vessel linings, so a continual supply of uric acid is important for protecting our blood vessels.

Uric acid levels in the blood and other parts of the body can become too high, however, under a variety of circumstances. Since our kidneys are responsible for helping keep blood levels of uric acid balanced, kidney problems can lead to excessive accumulation of uric acid in various parts of the body. Excessive breakdown of cells can also cause uric acid build-up. When uric acid accumulates, uric acid crystals (called monosodium urate crystals) can become deposited in our tendons, joints, kidneys, and other organs. This accumulation of uric acid crystals is called gouty arthritis, or simply "gout.""

When our body is weak from various factors, our organs aren't strong enough to handle their daily work = we get illnesses without doing exactly the wrong stuff unlike most people, they get high uric acid level from over-eating.

People of such circumstances must be more diligent than others to do the following:

Suitable exercise
Suitable diet for their body constitution
Quality rest
Stress management

It's not simply just managing the diet anymore like most of the plant or animal eaters. It's a bigger spectrum of things to handle.

But please don't panic, it's not cancer.  Panic release stress hormones = our natural chemo drugs for the body.

All you need to do is be more diligent + focused + patience to achieve a more balanced health. And don't stress over it, please don't ever stress yourself, it'd make recovery very difficult.
