Case study = Delayed menstruation for 6 months
Student = IT executive in local academia
Remedial = TCM, exercise
Results = Futile.
Infinite Qigong result = Success in 1 week.
This student of mine is actually my good friend staying near our family nest, she has told me of this issue for sometime, and I suggested my Qigong class.
Because many Western-inclined media often say that menstrual issues are hormonal, and the only way out is hormone pills, she didn't really think that Qigong can help.
So I explained carefully to her how Qigong works and why optimised Qi flow is important to our health and wellbeing. Next, I recommended her to my endorsed TCM doctor for her conditions.
Qigong can help many health issues, but the effects will be slow (think 3-6 months) and inconsistent to see without proper TCM (herbal), dietary, lifestyle changes.
Our body's functions don't work by just 1 element, it has to be a collaborative effort of many to be optimized = healthy.
She listened carefully and mulled over for 2 weeks (after I've been talking to her for 2 months, hahaha) and decided to come for my class, and visit the endorsed TCM doctor. She diligently made the herbal brew to drink too.
Endorsed, because I've personally tested a few of them with their prescriptions (yes, I use my body and health to experiment), and he's so far the only one who is consistently good at prescribing the right herbs for health conditions.
But I digress.
After coming to my first class, she went home to crash out on her bed, and whatsapp me the next day saying that she'd very deep sleep.
On the 3rd day, her menstruation came and was overjoyed. I told her, this doesn't mean the body is 100% ok yet, it just means everything is going on the right path with the right reaction.
So, she needs to watch her diet, continue the TCM brews to tune her body back, and sleep earlier. Why?
In TCM, women's health are deeply connected to the liver. If we don't sleep before 12am and engage ourselves in the wrong diet that affect the liver adversely, many gynea issues can ensue.
Some don't manifest in the monthly menstruation, but on the breast e.g lumps, discharge, pain and swollen, or cancer etc.
So once a woman's liver is depressed or impaired, various woman's issues can surface and their emotions will be imbalanced. In TCM, the liver is our emotional bank = poor liver functions will affect our mood and the way we think.
This is why many women have PMS before menstruation and the ovulation times.
In the next article, I'll explain more. Stay tuned. :)
