My dear student sent me some days ago, and I smiled.
Ah, so the Westerners finally get it!
We don't need to do long exercises to get positive effects on our health, not at all. This is also why, I tell my students not to overwork themselves with my Infinite Qigong®, only up to 15 minutes a day (or at least once every 3 days) is needed.
In the TCM + health practitioner (修炼) perspectives, for health benefits, as long as we do the movements right = 1 minute is equal to 15 minutes of workout.
Hence, 15 minutes of my Infinite Qigong® = 225 minutes = more than 3 hours of workout! Isn't that wonderful?
However, we must do it with a peaceful heart = no excessive emotions + not wanting to finish fast + mind not occupied with clutter.
Experience our body to be in the flow with our mind, relax totally, let go, and just do. Why?
Because the quality of our thoughts affect our Qi and blood flow, it also affects how we exhaust our energy + nutrients in our body.
The less we hold on in our mind = the less energy we need to burn to keep the rest of the body working = the more nutrients we conserve.
On the same plane, it also means our Qi, blood and organs are less affected by "shocks" from our thoughts and emotions = more healthy in the long run.
Now, why would our thoughts and emotions shock our body?
Most of our minds don't hold neutral thoughts and emotions, they're either mostly worries/stress or fantasies that take up our time. But it's more than time that it takes.
Worries/stress create stress hormones, what I call natural chemo drugs to our body. The damages it does to us, I don't have to reiterate anymore. :)
** Other negative emotions e.g fear, hatred, sadness etc belong to the stress category.
As for fantasies, they send unwarranted emotional highs through our body = stress our body unnecessary = bad for health.
In the ancient past, many high level practitioners (修行者) taught in their preaches to be careful of excessive emotions, as it would endanger our health.
With science, all their wise words are validated.
